Chennai
The
state of Tamil Nadu is positioned at the southern tip of India. There are many
beautiful sceneries, ancient monuments, historic temples which well known for their unique
sculptures. Chennai culture is firmly entrenched in
traditions and customs; music and dance lie at the very heart of the Chennai
culture. Tamil Nadu is a cosmopolitan state and the Chennai culture aptly
reflects the multi-cultural mindset of the population of the state. Despite
being a metropolitan city, Chennai is firmly rooted in its cultures and
traditions. Chennai culture is unique in its own way and is distinctive from all
the other Indian cultures. Music and dance form an essential and integral
component of the Chennai culture. There are lots

M ahabalipuram
lies on the Coromandel
Coast which faces the Bay of Bengal. This is an elegant place to watch with a
well established sea port . This was the second capital of the Pallavas who ruled Kanchipuram.
Formerly, mahabalipuram was known and called as Mamallapuram.The
beauty of the place is not only due to these architecture but the vast
casuarinas trees, the silvery sandy beach the classical hand male crafts around
have made them all to form what is a collective splendor. The sculptures
are excellent examples of Pallava art. Festivals are very
important to know the perfect traditional set up of a country. The department of Tourism of Tamilnadu
conducts world famous dance festivals every
Saturdays and Su ndays and also during holidays of the months of December and
January. The festival is for 4 weeks and dancers all over the country
participate and dance on the backdrop of the Arjuna’s penance. Classical
dances, music, tribal dances and puppet shows also entertain the mass gathering.

The
People
who had visited Chennai, must have seen the grand and magnificent Kapaliswarar
temple at Mylapore. The imposing Raja Gopuram will remain in our memory. When
inside this temple we are far away from the maddening crowd and the hassle of
the city. Sri Thirugyana Sampanthar is one of the great saints who had song in
praise of Lord Shiva. Sri Thirugyana Sampanthar had song in praise of Lord
Kapaliswarar, therefore it is believed that the temple had been in existence for
a long time.
Near
to the Thiruvalluvar temple there is a famous Anjaneya Swami temple. Bhagawan

near Sanskrit college at Mylapore.
In Bhagawan Anjaneya sannidhi one could see utsavamoorthi of Anjaneya Swami and
also a panchloka Venugopala Swamy. On to the right of Bhagawan Anjaneya Sannidhi
is the Perumal Kothanda Rama Sannidhi , housing Sri Rama
along with His consort Devishri Sita, His anuja Lakshmana.
LOCATED
ON the busy Venkatesa Agraharam Street in Mylapore, is the Sri
Shirdi Sai Baba Temple,
one of the oldest temples dedicated to Sai Baba in South India. Shri
Sai Baba is the essence and embodiment of spiritual enlightenment and
religious harmony. He awakened people to the eternal truth. "Sabka
Malik Ek" (One God governs all). He wanted to provide each one with
two powerful implements to make them stronger and wiser - 'One'
being 'Shraddha' (Faith) and other being 'Saburi'
(Patience).
Welcome
to the longest beach of India, Marina
Beach,
comprising of golden sand, good surf and a shimmering clean blue sea. This beach
is counted among one of the longest beaches in Asia. Its 12-km long stretch was
made beautiful by the wonderful facelift given by Governor Mountstuart
Elphinstone Grant Duff in the early 1880's, and is Chennai's major tourist
attraction today.
Some of the most beautiful buildings in Chennai such as the University of
Madras, Senate-House, Chepauk Palaceand Ice House are
located on the beach drive. At the other end of the beach is the new lighthouse.
In between, sentinels on the promenade, are several statues of Tamil scholars
and two splendid bits of sculpture- the Victory of Labour
and the Mahatma
Gandhi.
Anna And MGR Samadhis
Situated on the beach,which are the memorials of the most popular, former Chief
ministers of the state.
